About
Hi there! I'm Lachlan, a recent graduate in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Mathematics from NSW, Australia.
My interests cover a wide range of STEM topics, however I am particulatly passionate about machine learning, electronics, PCB design,
embedded computing and 3D modelling.
In terms of personal projects, I enjoy the art of combining 3D modelling, PCB/electronics design and software to create things I find
interesting, educational, or just cool! Several of these projects are availble on my projects page, including RGB LED programmable
sunglasses and a Rubik's cube solving robot!
On the weekends, I enjoy running and speedsolving Rubik's cubes and other twisty puzzles. At the moment I am training for a
sub-3 hour marathon and am aiming at getting my Rubik's cube solve times under 10 seconds. You might also catch me learning German,
hiking, cycling or servicing my 3D printer farm!

Small Business Owner
TrefoilTechAU, 11/2024 -
Newcastle, NSW, Australia
In this role, I utilised 3D modelling and mechanical engineering skills to design replacement parts for a globally recognised consumer appliance manufacturer. In the last 6 months TrefoilTech has done over AU$10k in sales to 300+ customers across Oceania, Europe and North America. Through a rapid prototyping process, I developed a superior part and ensured via thorough destructive testing that my part would offer supreme performance and durability over the OEM's design. Following the product design and testing, day-to-day tasks include manufacture (3D printing + assembly), packaging, postage, parts procurement, eBay SEO and responding to customers queries.

Volunteering & Community
-
Junior Delegate (World Cube Association)
As a Junior Delegate, I was responsible for overseeing official WCA (World Cube Association) Rubik's cube competitions on behalf of the WCA. Delegates are responsible for making sure that WCA Competitions are run according to the mission, spirit, and regulations of the WCA. During the event, this involved delegating tasks to competitors, conducting tutorials, adhering to the schedule, dealing with mishaps, making judgements on penalties and general overseeing of the competition area. Outside the event, responsibilities included liaising with competition venues and support staff, generating groups, score cards and other print media, setting up timers and displays and responding to competitor queries and concerns. During my time, I delegated 22 competitions in Sydney, regional NSW and the ACT.
